I realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor my therapy to meet the specific needs of my clients. My practice specializes in providing individual therapy, couples therapy, consultation, and psychoanalysis. This includes the following services:
Individual therapy for issues including childhood trauma, sexual orientation or gender expression issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and chronic patterns that reassert themselves. These repetitive problems can include relationships with unavailable or problematic partners, parenting power struggles, or chronic unhappiness in some area of your life.
Couples Therapy for straight, GLBT, and non-traditional couples. I see a large number of couples, both straight and GLBT, in my practice. The kinds of issues we work on include communication, fair fighting, pregnancy/fertility issues, affairs, polyamory, parenting, and sexuality, among others. Couples may come in for a brief series of sessions, or can move in and out of meeting with me as they solve problems, and then deal with new challenges. I see myself as a consultant to couples, helping each partner empathize with the other, and from there creating new agreements. I also help couples discuss their differences, due to gender, culture, power, or personality style.
Consultation is also something I provide, in person and remotely, for therapists who want help or support in their practice. I also do presentations at clinics and conferences on a number of topics, and teach at several graduate schools and institutes. Contact me for information.
Psychoanalysis is a form of psychotherapy that I have been trained in. It is a more intensive form of therapy, usually multiple times per week, sitting up or lying on my (very comfortable) couch if you find that position helpful in focusing on your own thoughts and feelings.
